When Parliament Finally Got Lit  

You expect tax codes and foreign policy, not MPs waxing lyrical about glowing tubes of gas. But on a spring night in the Commons, Britain’s lawmakers did just that.  

the formidable Ms Qureshi stood up and lit the place up with a speech defending neon sign makers. She cut through with clarity: glass and gas neon is an art form, and plastic LED fakes are killing the craft.  

She declared without hesitation: £30 LED strips do not belong in the same sentence as neon craftsmanship.  

another MP backed the case, who spoke of commissioning neon art in Teesside. The mood in the chamber was almost electric—pun intended.  

The stats hit hard. The craft has dwindled from hundreds to barely two dozen. The pipeline of skill is about to close forever. She pushed for law to protect the word "neon" the way Harris Tweed is legally protected.  

Enter Jim Shannon, DUP, backed by numbers, pointing out that neon is an expanding industry. Translation: this isn’t nostalgia, it’s business.  

Closing the debate, Chris Bryant had his say. He opened with a cheeky pun, getting heckled for it in good humour. Jokes aside, he was listening.

Why all this talk? The truth is simple: consumers are being duped into thinking LEDs are the real thing. That kills trust.  

Think of it like whisky or champagne. If it’s not gas in glass, it’s not neon.  

What flickered in Westminster wasn’t bureaucracy but identity. Do we let homogenisation kill character in the name of convenience?  

We’ll say it plain: authentic glow beats plastic glow every time.  

Parliament literally debated neon heritage. Nothing’s been signed off, the campaign is alive.  

If neon can reach Westminster, it can reach your living room.  

Skip the LED wannabes. If you want authentic neon, handmade the way it’s meant to be, you know where to find it.
