Student living in East London is messy but fun. The carpet smelled like beer, but we made it ours. IKEA lasts a term at best, so we hunted retro. Someone even nabbed a table from outside a pub. The colours clashed, but that’s what gave it soul. Retro armchairs have weight, and we care more about story than gloss. I’ve watched half my flat pass out across two chairs, and the chairs became mates.

Shoreditch is perfect for this life, and Smithers down in Shoreditch knows it. We’ve all shoved sofas through windows. it’s half the fun. Armchairs don’t mind if you fall asleep in them. Mass production doesn’t care, but retro lasts. every stain means another night. By the end of the year, the cracked window gets forgotten, but that funky accent chair is legend.

Next time you walk past a market, ignore the fake polish. Take home something with scars, and  chairs for  funky armchair living room leather let it shout Shoreditch every time you sit.
